Motorola G4 Plus is a very powerful device that was launched by Motorola in May 2016. The phone boasts of 4GB RAM, 64GB internal memory and an expandable memory of 256GB along with this it comes with a 16MP camera and an octa core processor. These features are enough to blow off any success party of any smartphone in this price segment. Moto G4 Plus has a dazzling design and since most of its competitors had fingerprint, so Motorola has embedded a fingerprint scanner on Moto G4 Plus too. Will all this be enough to compete with other phones of same price? Let’s find out.
Moto G4 Plus has a 5.5inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display and that too with full HD resolution i.e. 1080p. The pixel density of Moto G4 Plus’s display is 401ppi. For protection, there’s a Gorilla Glass 3 on Moto G4 Plus. The biggest competitor of Moto G4 Plus is Redmi Note 3 and there was no protection for its display so this could give Motorola an upper hand in this battle. Moto G4 Plus supports multitouch with 71.2% screen to body ratio.
Moto G4 Plus is quite thick, it’s almost 1.1mm thick than Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 but it’s quite light. Redmi Note 3 weighs 164grams while Moto G4 Plus weighs only 155grams. The less weight can be attributed to the low capacity battery that has been placed in Moto G4 Plus. Full dimensions of Moto G4 Plus are 153 x 76.6 x 9.8 mm. Another thing that could give others an upper hand is, Moto G4 Plus’s faux metal body. Moto G4 Plus’s is almost all plastic but it’s of premium quality. There’s no splash resistant coating on Moto G4 Plus that was there previously on G3. There’s a fingerprint scanner on Moto G4 Plus too which is absent on Moto G4.
Moto G4 Plus comes in three variants, each one having different RAM and internal memory size. The first variant has 2GB of RAM along with 16GB of internal memory, the second variant has 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of internal memory and finally the third variant has 4GB of RAM with mighty 64GB of internal memory. All the variants have an expandable memory capacity of 256GB and there’s a dedicated slot for that. Moto G4 Plus comes pre-loaded with Android v6.0.1 (Marshmallow).
Moto G4 Plus is having an Octa core processor whose 4 arms are clocked at 1.5GHz and the other four are clocked at 1.2GHz. All this has been done using the Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617 chipset. For multimedia purposes, Moto G4 Plus has Qualcomm’s Adreno 405. The AnTuTu benchmark score of Moto G4 Plus is 42,229 and that’s quite impressive against Redmi Note 3’s 47,986.
Moto G4 Plus is having a rich in megapixels 16MP primary camera features like phase detection, laser autofocus, dual LED flash and what not. Laser autofocus helps you focus real fast and this feature was absent on Redmi Note 3. The aperture size is f/2.0 for the primary camera and its f/2.2 for the secondary camera. One can easily shoot full HD videos with this phone without any hassle.
Moto G4 Plus comes with a non-removable 3000mAh battery but to an upside, it has a got the fast charging technology that enables you to charge your phone very quick. The battery backup isn’t too bad either, it can easily last for a day on normal usage.
Moto G4 Plus has a lot of connectivity features like Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth v4.1, USB OTG and the phone supports dual SIM. The second SIM cannot be 4G. Coming to the sensors, Moto G4 Plus has got proximity, fingerprint, accelerometer, light sensor, gyro but it misses out on compass, barometer and temperature sensor.
