Google has finally come up with a device that it calls its own – Google Pixel. Google Pixel’s OEM will be HTC because Google didn’t want to invest too much into manufacturing when they can ask others to do it for them, but rest assured – everything about Pixel has been done by Google itself. Google Pixel comes in two variants Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL. Google Pixel (32GB) costs $649, Google Pixel (128GB) costs $749, Google Pixel XL (32GB) costs $769 and Google Pixel XL (128GB) costs $869.  The major difference between the two variants is just their screen size, and resolution. The Pixel falunts a 5 inch FHD display while the Pixel XL has a QHD display. The Pixel phones house latest and greatest hardware, i.e Snapdragon 821 CPU and 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM and will run Android 7.0 out of the box.

Google Assistant

Google Assistant is an AI (Artificial Intelligence) software that comes in-built with the Pixel phones. Google Assistant is much like Siri from Apple, but the company claims its way better than Siri. Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai focused a lot on the AI part and called it the “AI First” phone. You can use the Google Assistant just by long pressing the home key or saying “OK Google”.

Virtual Reality aka DayDream

Daydream is Google’s virtual reality hardware that costs just $79. Google Pixel will be the first Android phone to support DayDream VR sets. The VR sets are mostly made up of very soft fabric and weigh just over 200grams. The face mask of DayDream is washable too. Watching 360 degree YouTube videos on DayDream will be a great fun.

All new launcher

Google has also designed their own launcher for the Pixel series of phones. The new launcher is being called “Pixel Launcher” and it looks really neat. You need to swipe up to get to the app’s drawer. The time, date and other things have been placed on top right of the screen.

Camera

Apple iPhone 7’s launch was followed by a lot of positive reviews for the camera they had showed the world in the event. So Google too has decided not to fall back. They have designed their own camera app to work with Pixel’s 12MP primary camera. The app offers you features like white balancing, controlling the exposure and even uses the Artificial Intelligence to pick the best shots for you. The company claims, it’s the best camera in any smartphone ever.

Connectivity & Memory

There’s no expandable memory slot in the phone and that could be a bit of turn off for a few but the internal memory goes up to 128GB too, Also Google is offering unlimited free cloud storage so that shouldn’t be much of a problem.  Also you can easily switch to Pixel from any Android phone or even from the iPhone using the USB-C adapter. It has NFC, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and coming to the sensors, it offers – Fingerprint, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer.

24/7 Customer Care

Last but not the least, if you are facing any sort of issue in using this next-gen phone you can contact the Google’s customer care executives 24/7 using the in-built feature in settings.
